Post-translational lipid modifications of membrane-anchored proteins
Several proteins are attached to a membrane by hydrophobic anchors. The anchor is added by a post-translational lipid modification. ARAMEMNON includes prediction results for putative glycosyl-phosphatidyl inositol (GPI)-attachment, prenylation (farnesylation and geranylgeranylation), myristoylation and palmitoylation.
Data published by Borner et al. (2003, 2002) and up to four prediction programs are used to find proteins membrane-anchored by GPI (for details about the prediction programs see Resource > GPI-attachment
Data published by Boisson et al. (2003) and up to three prediction programs are used to find proteins membrane-anchored by a myristoyl moiety (for details about the prediction programs see Resource > Myristoylation
For programs that predict a putative prenylation site see Resource > Prenylation
